2024 Exhibition Dates & Information

Opening 2nd to 10th November 10am-4pm
Followed by the next three weekends
16th-17th, 23rd-24th, 30th Nov & 1st Dec 10am-4pm

If you haven’t been to the exhibition before here is some information about the event and opening day.
It is very busy the first morning until around 1 o’clock after that things settle down to a normal level. The first morning is very exciting and there’s a real buzz in the air. I look forward to it each year, it is also your best chance of purchasing the one off pieces.

During this year’s open period we’ve had around 4000 new followers on Instagram. I would like to welcome you all and answer some frequently asked questions so you know how things work.

* The exhibition is the only time of year you can purchase my artwork.
* I do not open Shades of Gray by appointment or any other time of the year, apart from the exhibition time.
* Unfortunately I don’t take commissions or make to order.
* At the exhibition, once a piece is sold it can be taken there and then on the day
* There are no pre-ordering or getting work put aside until you get to the exhibition before it starts.
* If you come to the exhibition and can’t get a piece home, I can deliver to Melbourne, Geelong Bendigo Ballarat and other locations, just ask about the destinations.
* We accept cash or cards. The 2024 exhibition will have an express lane for cash so you don’t have to wait.
* Selling online is done via Instagram direct message. This will begin 10am on 2 November. Instagram selling will continue while the exhibition is on. Please note the best chances of securing a one off pieces is to be at the exhibition on the first morning. Things like Weathervanes, Bird Houses, Flower Orbs will not be available online.
* Finally it’s a lovely property with a beautiful garden, a very pleasant environment and everyone who visits has a wonderful time. So if you haven’t been I would highly recommend it, the comment that I received the most from visitors is ” It’s even better than it looks on Instagram”

Otway flower installation is completed. What a bea

Otway flower installation is completed. What a beautiful location and the Wild Violet flowers are the perfect colour to put in the forest with the native ferns. I would like to thank Robyn, Ray and all the team at the Otway Fly Treetop Adventures for looking after us and especially Robyn as it was her idea for the flowers. The opportunity to put our flowers in such a wonderful forest location doesn’t come along very often.

Well that certainly was a very enjoyable and busy year. I created more art work than ever before and I am very proud of all the pieces especially the new ones. The mirrors, candlesticks, and the chooks were my favourite. (If you like chooks🐓 and your veggie garden🥬 you’re going to love next years exhibition. My extremely popular signage is long overdue for a return and I plan to have lots available)
It was the busiest the exhibition has been in the 30 years I’ve been doing Shades of Gray.

I would like to add if you haven’t been to the exhibition on the opening morning it’s very busy and exciting. There’s a real buzz in the air but if you don’t like crowds I would recommend arriving just after 1pm when things settle down considerably.

My last job this year is an adventure to the Otways to install 20m of Wild Violet & White flowers amongst the ferns at the entry to Ottway Fly Treetop Adventures. I’m really looking forward to this and I’ll post photos of the installation tomorrow.

After 7 1/2 enjoyable hours the Rosebud installat

After 7 1/2 enjoyable hours the Rosebud installation is finished. Hundreds of flowers at least 40 bell flowers have transformed this section of Joy’s beautiful garden in Rosebud. Ocean Teal and white work so well together in the garden at this beach front property. Joy was an absolute pleasure to work with on this project.

Here’s a video taken 27 July, I didn’t get a chance to post this one as i am not on insta at that time. Here I am welding the little circle hangers on top of the small Bell flowers. I did this 600 time for these little guys😮
While we are shut to selling for most of the year, I am working away in the studio all year most nights to 10 or 11pm creating all the pieces to get ready for the next exhibition. The ideas are already flowing in for the next exhibition starting 2nd November.
Also some big news Better Homes and Gardens tv show have booked in to do a story at the start of the exhibition next year so that will be fun.
